Event Details

[For ages 5-11 and their caregivers.] Join along for a special Autism Acceptance story time with local public speaker and autism advocate, Andrew Maggio. All children welcome!

Andrew Maggio is a public speaker and advocate for those on the Autism spectrum. He has a unique perspective as he is a person who has Autism. Born in 1991 in Bayside, Queens, NYC, he began his education in public schools. When he was 7 years of age, he moved with his family to attend Orange Ulster BOCES in Goshen, NY. By 2010, he attended Tappan Zee High School and participated in the COVE Program for neurotypical students. It was here he discovered his life purpose: to speak to others and open their minds about Autism! Since then, Andrew has continued to educate and speak in the community. He shares his message with public school students, non-profit organizations and most recently became a paid Advocacy Specialist at Wildwood Programs. He enjoys this position very much. In addition to being an eloquent public speaker, he is a strong advocate for disability rights. He engages with local legislators to ensure the neurodiverse community is both seen and heard.
