Program Description

Event Details

Join us for another Capital Region Repair Cafe run by Historic Albany Foundation's (HAF) Tool Library. Repair Cafes started in the Netherlands and have taken the world by storm, providing resources for people who want to reuse their household items and favorite clothing instead of tossing them in the bin to buy new. There will be repair coaches who can sharpen knives and scissors, repair clothing and textiles, jewelry, electronics, wooden items, toys, and more.

If your item needs a specific part (such as a belt for a particular model) please bring the replacement. HAF has general parts available for free (such as wires) and HAF has items available to purchase (like switches) at cost price.

It will be first come, first served. HAF will not be taking in any items to repair after 3:15pm.

What is a Repair Cafe?

Repair Cafes are free meeting places, and they’re all about repairing things together. You’ll find expert volunteers with repair skills in all kinds of fields who will help repair your items (and teach you how to!)

What Kind of Items Can We Fix?

This is not an exhaustive list, but it gives you an idea of what HAF can work on.

- Lamps

- Clothes

- Knit Items (Crocheted Blankets, Sweaters, etc.)

- Toys

- Jewelry

- Tools

- Bicycles

- Vacuum Cleaners

- Small appliances

- Tools that need sharpening

- Wooden Items

You are welcome to bring several items. Items cannot be dropped off and picked up later. After 3:15pm, no new items will be accepted. Repair coaches will remain past 4pm, if needed, to fix items with you, but we will conclude by 4:45pm. No microwaves please. No refreshments are provided.

Presented in partnership with Historic Albany Foundation.

No pre-registration required.
