In celebration of Jane Austen’s 250th birthday (December 16th), join Nancy Duell and David Shapard as they explore how people dressed in Regency Era England. Nancy and David are representatives from the Jane Austen Society of North America. They will be covering dress making and fashion from the era, as well as highlighting fashions of the time with an exhibit of regency accurate dresses Nancy sewed herself.
Attendees will be able to ask the experts questions and even try on some articles of regency fashion.
Wearing your favorite Jane Austen apparel is encouraged!
David M. Shapard is the author of annotated versions of all six major Jane Austen works. He graduated with a Ph.D. in European History from the University of California at Berkeley; his specialty was the eighteenth century. Since then he has taught at several colleges. He lives in upstate New York.
