Program Description

Event Details

Come celebrate Hispanic Heritage month at the Pine Hills Branch!  We will learn about four Hispanic Artists who are connected in different ways to the Capital Region.  In a video, each artist will describe a Hispanic work and state what they find compelling.  The artists are Roxanna Melendez (painter), Alexis Mendoza (painter/sculptor), Melissa Thompson (printmaker/textiles/ multimedia), Armando Soto (painter), and Eliezer Parilla (painter/mixed media).

Right after the video presentation, attendees will be able to produce an artwork of their very own. This artmaking session will be guided by Laudelina Martinez of Martinez Gallery in Troy, using as inspiration the pieces selected by the artists. Materials for drawing and producing collages will be available; attendees will leave with their creative output. This program is appropriate for all ages.
