POSTPONED TO 12/7/23 Fifty Years of Women in Hip-Hop

*Event has been rescheduled to 12/7/23*

Come celebrate and explore the history of women in hip-hop! It is the 50 year anniversary of hip-hop, and there's no better way to reflect on and celebrate that milestone than by inviting Dr. Janell Hobson to share with us the rich feminist history of hip-hop art and culture.

Janell Hobson is a professor in the Department of Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies at the University at Albany whose research, teaching and service centers around multiracial and transnational feminist issues with a focus on representations and histories of women in the African Diaspora. For the 50th anniversary of hip-hop, Dr. Hobson wrote and edited a series of articles for the magazine Ms. that included interviews with feminist scholars, professors, playwrights, DJs and music executives, as well as a syllabus and playlist.
