Program Description

Event Details

[All ages] Come learn about a fascinating aspect of science and the world around us. Our presenters will discuss a different topic each month.

In November: "New Windows on the Universe" In this lecture, Dr. Vivek Jain, Associate Professor of Physics at the University at Albany, will discuss neutrino astronomy.

"Humans have long observed the skies, but for the most part we have been restricted to using visible light. In the last few decades we have opened new windows via cosmic rays, gravitational waves and neutrinos. In this talk, we will 'see' how neutrinos, the second most abundant particle in the universe, and one that can go through a trillion miles of lead unscathed, are giving us new information on the universe (as well as our planet)!"

Registration Required.
