The Electoral College: Yay Or Nay?

[For Adults] This Reading and Discussion Group presents an opportunity to learn about and discuss how the Electoral College has changed US history and why it endures. Why was it created? How has it changed over time? Who benefits from it? Is it just? How will future demographic patterns affect it? Should we alter or abolish the Electoral College, and if so, what should replace it? 

To explore these matters participants in this 4-part Zoom series will read two books and learn about the history, composition, roles and responsibilities, legalities and processes of the Electors and the Electoral College. 

The Book Discussion will be held on Thursdays, October 3rd, October 17th, October 24th, and November 7th.

The discussion is facilitated by Dr. David A. Bateman, Associate Professor Cornell University.

The library will have a limited number of texts available to borrow.
