[For Adults] Join us to view the documentary Very Young Girls a 2007 film documentary on human trafficking. It follows 13- and 14-year-old African-American girls as they are seduced, abused, and sold on New York's streets. The film documents the work of Girls Educational and Mentoring Services (GEMS), a recovery center founded and operated by Rachel Lloyd, a survivor of sexual exploitation. The producers of the documentary hope to "change the way law enforcement, the media and society as a whole view sexual exploitation, street prostitution, and human trafficking that is happening right in our own backyard." Counselors will be on standby if anyone needs someone to talk to during the screening, and a panel discussion will be held directly after. Light Refreshments will be provided.
Presented in partnership with Albany County Crime Victim and Sexual Violence Center
