Program Description

Event Details

Join us in our Local History Room for a special presentation about our College of Saint Rose Digitization Project.

The College of Saint Rose was an Albany institution for over 100 years. It left an incredible legacy, with notable alumni including Glen Barker (Major League Baseball player), Mary Daly (feminist philosopher), and even tv personalities like Paige DeSorbo and Jimmy Fallon.

Digital preservation of the history of this institution demonstrates the importance of Saint Rose within the Albany community. Join us for a hands-on presentation about Albany Public Library's efforts to digitize the College of Saint Rose yearbooks dating back to the 1920s. Learn about our New York Heritage digital collections and how the Local History Room preserves vital Albany County history. This project is made possible by a Regional Collections Grant from the Capital District Library Council, University at Albany digitization intern Lu Gao, APL Librarians Virginia Marcellus and Danielle Adams, and digitization volunteer David Bonitatibus.

Anthony Opalka, current official historian of the city of Albany, will be available to answer questions about Albany's history and assist with research questions.
