[Adults] Get Your Tax Return Prepared For Free! The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program is a national IRS volunteer program where IRS-certified volunteers prepare Federal and state tax returns for free! Come file with the Albany Public Library VITA Tax Site, located at 161 Washington Ave! 

To qualify: 

  • Annual income should be $60k or less
  • Must not have rental income
  • Must not currently be in bankruptcy
  • Must not have self-employment income involving deductions for employees or inventory. Ride sharing employees generally qualify.

  • Other qualifications may apply depending on individual circumstances 

    Interested? Make your appointment online starting 1/15/24 at www.unitedwaygcr.org/cash. Social security cards for everyone listed on your tax return are mandatory; VITA cannot prepare tax returns without them present.
